Family’s bed plunges through floor into neighbour’s living room

Two families escaped injury yesterday morning when the floor of a Housing Development Corporation (HDC) apartment collapsed onto the one below, sending a bed crashing into a living room.

The bed from Gail Mohan-Thomas’ home plunged into the living room of the Jamadar Street, San Fernando, apartment Richard Phillip shares with his family of five, which includes children ages one and three years old.

“If somebody was walking out there at the same time and that come down on them, you could never tell what could have happened,” Phillip said. He was thankful no-one was injured, as he added that the person would not have been able to run from the area before the collapse.
