(Kaieteur News) – He is a Guyanese singer, songwriter, composer, multiple title winner, but perhaps his most paraded title is being a New Amsterdam, Berbician first and foremost. And that’s where it all began for Carlvin Burnett.
There are many singers, some on genuine merit, others only by title. Whether a fan or not, however, Burnett’s competence as a vocalist is as factual as water is wet. Having emerged from a background of vocal heavyweights, his mother Collette Burnett guided his first steps as a young and eager singer in church.
Burnett retains natural, multidimensional vocals. He wields a muscular chest register that mows down challenging notes with considerable ease, comparable to elite U.S R&B singer Tank, and segues with a falsetto as silky as Justin Timberlake; this is more often a display of consummate skill than a safety option for which falsetto is resorted to among many vocalists.
