(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) has issued a warning to all stakeholders, advising them against the selling or purporting to sell mining lands.
The commission reminded that such actions may contravene the legal and regulatory framework governing the mining sector. Similar to a notice issued back in September, GGMC in a notice this week, reminded that mining lands are granted to individuals and entities for the purpose of undertaking mining activities, subject to the applicable laws, regulations, and conditions governing the relevant mining tenure.
The Commission had stated that it will be cracking down on the practice of selling, or purporting to sell, mining lands granted by the Commission.
