New Geriatric Hospital set to open by year’s end

The new Geriatric Hospital is on track to open before the end of the year, with the Ministry of Health and Wellness completing final preparations for the facility.

Speaking during Wednesday’s virtual public consultation on Phase II of the Geriatric Hospital and the National Rehabilitation Centre, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Wellness Francine Blackman said the facility was expected to open during the final quarter of 2026.

“Right now, we are anticipating thaDirector of Support Services at the QEH Dr Gerry Warnert in the last quarter of this year, 2026, we anticipate that we will have the facility open,” Blackman said.
