KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) is advising members of the public that ceremonial guns will be fired during the Guard of Honour rehearsals and parade over the period of Wednesday, July 29 and Monday, August 3, in honour of the visit of the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, to the island.

The JDF in a press release on Wednesday said the firing of ceremonial guns forms part of long-standing military traditions and protocols observed during state visits and official ceremonies involving heads of state.

“Members of the public in and around the Corporate Area, particularly in the vicinity of King’s House and surrounding communities, may hear a series of loud explosions during the ceremony,” JDF said.
