A 30-year-old Barataria man, who ran away from po­lice of­fi­cers af­ter be­ing pulled over for reck­less dri­ving, has been fined $5,000.

Po­lice said the in­ci­dent took place on Ju­ly 19, 2025, when W/Cpl Alves and PC Forde—two of­fi­cers of the Tran­sit Po­lice Unit (TPU)—were on pa­trol along the Pri­or­i­ty Bus Route near the Aranguez Sa­van­nah. They spot­ted a white Toy­ota Corol­la speed­ing west along the route.

The of­fi­cers chased the car to the Aranguez traf­fic lights and drove along­side it to get the dri­ver’s at­ten­tion.
