Govt. denies involvement in review of judge’s U.S. visa

(Kaieteur News) – Attorney General (AG) and Minister of Legal Affairs Anil Nandlall, on Tuesday said the government had nothing to do with the United States of America reviewing the visa of High Court Judge Gino Persaud.

Addressing the matter, which has attracted considerable media attention, Nandlall said several members of the media had reached out to him seeking a comment on the issue. He said it was unfortunate that the judge himself had not officially said anything.

“Neither has the U.S. said anything officially. So, I have no informed comment to make on the matter, but it’s a I guess a universally known fact that the US has always exercised great sovereign control over those who are permitted to travel to their country and that’s a known fact,” he said.
