Minister Confident In T&T’s Security Council Reaadiness

When Trinidad and Tobago takes its position as a non permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027/2028 term, we will be a part of several significant discussions that will test diplomacy, and international relations, a challenge that Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Sean Sobers is confident can be achieved.

Speaking on TTT’s FOCUS programme, the Minister confirmed that T&T will take up observership status at beginning of October 2026, then as part of the elected 10 at the beginning of January, 2027.

With several matters shaping international discussions, Minister Sobers said this country will have the responsibility, along with the 15 other Council members, to ensure that they are addressed fairly and in the best interests of all.
