Police have confirmed that the body found in a forested area in St James on Saturday is that of Shashi Rampersad, who was kidnapped last year.
Family members identified his remains at the Forensic Science Centre, Federation Park, on Monday.
A post-mortem is scheduled later this week to determine the official cause of death.
