AS the Carnival season continues to pick up steam with various fetes, the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) has stressed that the monitoring of events, and especially previous offenders, will be enforced.
The EMA advised in a release yesterday that a series of heightened noise management initiatives is being implemented under the amended Noise Pollution Control Rules, 2001 (NPCR). The new approach includes improved public access to information.
The Authority said the measures were in alignment with the Government’s efforts to reduce noise pollution while preserving Trinidad and Tobago’s cultural heritage. The initiatives will increase monitoring and regulation, especially for large-scale events, particularly in high-density and residential areas, and locations with a history of noise complaints during Carnival.
