The 100 low-income homes that are being constructed at the Le Reconnaissance Housing Development, East Coast Demerara (ECD) are approximately 15 per cent complete and are expected to be completed by the end of January 2027 and handed over to the allottees.
The two-bedroom units, valued at $5.6 million each have all been allocated and the eight contractors are currently executing the works, with more than 120 workers employed on the project.
Housing Minister, Collin Croal during an inspection of the works on Friday related that the development forms part of the Government’s broader approach to increasing the supply of constructed homes, particularly as more applicants are expressing a preference for completed units rather than residential lots alone.
