The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) has issued two Certificates of Environmental Clearance (CECs) for projects in the energy and tourism sectors.
CEC7133/2025 was granted to Perenco Trinidad and Tobago Limited for the recommissioning of an existing produced water treatment system on the Amherstia Platform, located in the Southeast Galeota Block off the south-east coast of Trinidad. The approval allows for the treatment and controlled discharge of produced water to facilitate gas export operations and increased production from an existing well.
The EMA said the application underwent a detailed technical review, including an Ecological Risk Assessment supported by hydrodynamic modelling and worst-case discharge scenario analysis. The certificate was issued on February 26, 2026.
