Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar toured the Uni­ver­si­ty of the West In­dies South (Debe) Cam­pus yes­ter­day as re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion works com­menced, reaf­firm­ing her Gov­ern­ment’s com­mit­ment to open­ing the fa­cil­i­ty for stu­dents across Trinidad and To­ba­go.

Dur­ing the tour, the Prime Min­is­ter re­ceived up­dates from project teams on the on­go­ing restora­tion works and the struc­tured plan to bring the cam­pus in­to op­er­a­tion.

She said the Debe Cam­pus rep­re­sents a crit­i­cal in­vest­ment in ex­pand­ing ac­cess to ter­tiary ed­u­ca­tion, par­tic­u­lar­ly for stu­dents in South Trinidad, and en­sures that op­por­tu­ni­ty is not lim­it­ed by ge­og­ra­phy or fi­nan­cial con­straints.
