The United States Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago says Trinidad and Tobago has taken a major step in strengthening regional cooperation against narco-terrorism by joining the United States in designating 25 criminal organisations as foreign terrorist organisations.
In a post on its social media pages on Monday morning, the embassy said Trinidad and Tobago was the first Shield of the Americas country to join the United States in making the designations.
Trinidad and Tobago joined the Shield of the Americas at the initiative’s inaugural summit in Doral, Florida, on March 7, 2026, where Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar was among the regional leaders invited by US President Donald Trump.
