Roman Catholic Archbishop Jason Gordon yesterday said that while this country is heading in the wrong way of self-gratification and people believing that they should get everything they want, Lent is a time for spiritual growth and having a relationship with God.
Gordon also likened the Lenten season to honeymoon time and invited people to draw closer to God.
Delivering the homily at the Ash Wednesday Mass yesterday at the Pro-Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in San Fernando, Gordon said, “We have been living through a very difficult time as a society, as a world community, where what is wrong is being defended as if it is right. Where what we know we shouldn’t be doing is being defended as if it is the most right thing to defend in public. We’re living through this difficult time where even among nations, things are happening that are just unbelievable. And in the midst of this, Jesus says come back to me with all your heart.”
