(Kaieteur News) – Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley has thrown her country’s full support behind Guyana’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, for the post of United Nations Secretary-General.
Mottley made the declaration on Thursday while addressing the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, saying Rodrigues-Birkett has the experience and skills needed to serve the entire UN membership.
“As the United Nations undertakes the important task of selecting its next Secretary-General, Barbados joins its sister member states in the Caribbean Community in pledging its full support for the candidature of Ambassador Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett of Guyana,” Mottley said.
