(Kaieteur News) – A massive fire of unknown origin on Wednesday afternoon completely destroyed the three-story Regent Household Electronics Store on Regent Street, between Light and Albert Streets, Georgetown.
The blaze, which started sometime before 13:00hrs, engulfed the building and its contents, which included electronics, appliances, furniture, household and gift items, footwear, clothing and other merchandise.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer Dwayne Scotland told reporters at the scene that the Guyana Fire and Rescue Service received the emergency call at approximately 13:03hrs and arrived about three minutes later, immediately beginning firefighting operations.
