POLICE detained 19 Venezuelans suspected of having arrived in Trinidad illegally after police stopped and searched a white panel van in Glencoe.
Police reported that between 9 p.m. on Saturday and 5 a.m. on Sunday officers of the Western Division Task Force were on roadblock duty along the Western Main Road, Glencoe, when they stopped a van being driven by a 47-year-old man.
When officers slid open the door, they found 17 adults and two children packed inside with little to no room between them. It was not known if the driver told police anything but the officers on duty speculated that the 19 people may have arrived into the country illegally.
