UnitÂed KingÂdom (UK) ForÂeign SecÂreÂtary David LamÂmy has reÂitÂerÂatÂed Britain’s unÂwaÂverÂing supÂport for Guyana’s terÂriÂtoÂrÂiÂal inÂtegriÂty afÂter a VenezueÂlan paÂtrol vesÂsel on SatÂurÂday viÂoÂlatÂed the naÂtion’s marÂitime space.
In a stateÂment on SunÂday, LamÂmy conÂdemned the provocaÂtive act, emÂphaÂsisÂing the UK’s comÂmitÂment to Guyana’s inÂterÂnaÂtionÂalÂly recogÂnised borÂders. The ForÂeign SecÂreÂtary called on Venezuela to reÂfrain from furÂther acÂtions that unÂderÂmine Guyana’s sovÂerÂeignÂty.
“YesÂterÂday, Venezuela viÂoÂlatÂed Guyana’s marÂitime terÂriÂtoÂry in a provocaÂtive act,” LamÂmy statÂed. “The UK is steadÂfast in its supÂport for Guyana’s inÂterÂnaÂtionÂalÂly recogÂnised terÂriÂtoÂrÂiÂal inÂtegriÂty and urges Venezuela to reÂfrain from such acÂtions.”
