“Labour Day calls us not only to remember, but to be vigilant.”

In her address to the nation in commemoration of Labour Day, President Christine Kangaloo noted that the society must honour the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who built Trinidad and Tobago’s labour movement.

Naming the movement’s early pioneers Uriah “Buzz” Butler, Adrian Cola Rienzi, Andrew Arthur Cipriani and Albert Maria Gomes, President Kangaloo said those men exemplified justice, dignity and fairness for every worker and whose legacies live on through the country’s laws and institutions.
