Programme Adviser to the Division of Youth and Culture and the Office of Pan African Affairs and Heritage, Rodney Grant, is calling for concepts of emancipation to feature more prominently in the Crop Over Festival.

He says the focus does not have to be on slavery alone, as Barbados’ emancipation story has evolved over time.

Mr Grant believes greater emphasis should be placed on the achievements of the country’s people.
