DOMESTIC passengers travelling through Piarco International Airport will soon pass through the same gates as international travellers, as authorities move to overhaul the airport experience and align it more closely with global standards.
However, while passengers can access the duty-free shopping area, they will not be able to purchase items on a duty-free basis. Instead, some retailers will offer “duty-paid” items that domestic passengers can purchase.
The Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, in a release issued yesterday, said the changes, which take effect from this Friday, will eliminate the domestic departure lounge on the ground floor, with all departing passengers redirected to a unified “All Gates” system.
