Police are investigating an incident in which a 14-year-old boy was injured after he and a cousin reportedly found a firearm in a forested area in Santa Cruz on Friday morning.
The victim has been identified as a child from Cakes Land, La Canoa, Lower Santa Cruz.
According to police, around 9:30 a.m. officers responded to a report of explosions heard at Cakes Land, La Canoa Road. When officers from the Santa Cruz CID and the North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) arrived, they were informed that the victim and his male cousin had discovered a firearm in a nearby forested area.
