Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said the protest march by labour leaders and workers in Port of Spain yesterday was a “bust”.
But trade unionist Michael Annisette declared the march a success, saying it was attended by thousands of workers who took to the streets of the capital city to demand justice, equity and better governance.
“It was successful. It was attended by thousands of workers. We had about 12 unions represented. We wanted to bring the issues to the forefront like job security and the need for justice and equity in the society,” Annisette, the general secretary of the National Trade Union Centre (Natuc), told the Express at the end of the march.
