Kamla declares union protest a failure, tells marchers to return to work

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has declared that Friday’s protest march in Port of Spain was a failure, describing it as a “long touted hate protest” against the United National Congress (UNC) and telling participants to return to work on Monday.

In a Facebook post following the march, Persad-Bissessar claimed that the protest had failed to attract significant numbers, adding that an aerial photograph showed what she said was the true size of the gathering.

“The protest has bust, back to work on Monday, enjoy the weekend, your Prime Minister loves you,” she wrote.
