In a move that com­bines high-stakes pol­i­tics and com­mu­ni­ty se­cu­ri­ty, the new wave of po­lice posts is be­ing strate­gi­cal­ly placed in Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress (UNC) ar­eas.

This was the view shared by crim­i­nol­o­gist Dau­rius Figueira, fol­low­ing the Au­gust 3 an­nounce­ment by Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar that the Gov­ern­ment will es­tab­lish 30 po­lice posts through­out T&T over the next four months, as part of on­go­ing ef­forts to strength­en se­cu­ri­ty pres­ence na­tion­wide.
