KINGSTON, Jamaica —Newly crowned Wanda Diamond League champion Rajindra Campbell ended his best season as a professional athlete by breaking the men’s shot put record at the Palio Citta’ Della Quercia in Rovereto, Italy — a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meet — on Tuesday with 22.17m.
Campbell, who threw a Jamaican national record and world-leading 23.08m at the Diamond League final in Brussels, Belgium on Saturday, broke the three-year-old meet record of 21.88m set by Italy’s Zane Weir.
American Payton Otterdahl was second with 21.81m and Weir was third with 21.17m.
