The Wa­ter and Sew­er­age Au­thor­i­ty (WASA) says it has gained full con­trol of the rup­tured trans­mis­sion main near Beetham Gar­dens and has be­gun de­wa­ter­ing op­er­a­tions ahead of re­pairs sched­uled for com­ple­tion by noon to­mor­row.

In an up­date to­day, WASA said emer­gency re­sponse teams were de­ployed im­me­di­ate­ly af­ter the rup­ture was re­port­ed.

The au­thor­i­ty said crews ac­ti­vat­ed full emer­gency pro­to­cols and suc­cess­ful­ly ac­cessed and op­er­at­ed valves to de­wa­ter the af­fect­ed 30-inch boost­er line, which it de­scribed as a crit­i­cal step to­ward car­ry­ing out safe and ef­fec­tive re­pairs.
