A judge has ruled in favour of the owner of a popular San Fernando nightclub in a breach of contract claim in a lease dispute.
Selwyn Persad, owner of the Space La Nouba, received $405,000, plus interest at a rate of 7.5 per cent per annum, from December 11, 2019, when he filed his claim, to May 23, when Justice Betsy Ann Lambert-Peterson delivered her ruling.
The case centred on a lease agreement dated November 15, 2018, under which Persad leased his nightclub in La Romaine to Rajendra Maye. Persad claimed Maye breached the agreement by failing to provide six months’ notice in writing before vacating the premises in December 2018, in violation of the lease.
