Barbados has received nearly half a billion dollars in climate financing from the Green Climate Fund (GCF), but officials warned that fragmented project preparation across the Caribbean is holding back even larger investment flows.
The GCF – considered the world’s largest fund of its kind – is a United Nations entity that assists developing countries with climate change adaptation and mitigation activities.
GCF Director for Latin America and the Caribbean Region Kristin Lang said on Tuesday that Barbados is showing “real” leadership in how climate finance can be put to work and has pledged to partner with this country in that effort.
