“There will be no hardship. Not under my watch”.
This was the confident declaration made yesterday by newly appointed Finance Minister Vishnu Dhanpaul in an interview after he was sworn in at President’s House.
“That is not going to happen,” he said in response to a question on whether he was capable of making tough decisions if necessary with respect to the management of the country’s financial affairs. Dhanpaul replaced Colm Imbert who was reassigned to Public Utilities in the Cabinet of Prime minister Stuart Young.
