THE High Court has imposed a seven-day deadline on the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) to disclose the names of all persons and entities who received legal and consultancy fees for work related to the commission of enquiry (CoE) into the 2022 Paria diving tragedy.
In a ruling upholding the principles of open governance delivered yesterday by Justice Joan Charles, the judge granted an order of mandamus that compels the permanent secretary of the OPM to release the full list of names and corresponding fees.
The decision stems from the refusal of then PNM administration under the leadership Dr Keith Rowley when the CoE was commissioned to provide the names sought under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
