An earÂly mornÂing fire yesÂterÂday deÂstroyed the old woodÂen MinÂistry of Health buildÂing loÂcatÂed on the site of the forÂmer ChÂaguaÂnas Health CenÂtre, a strucÂture that had stood for more than 50 years.
The buildÂing was preÂviÂousÂly used by the DisÂtrict MedÂical OfÂfice beÂfore the health cenÂtre was reÂloÂcatÂed from the area more than a decade ago to make way for a venÂdors’ mall. The mall was subÂseÂquentÂly closed on April 1, 2026, and the venÂdors were reÂloÂcatÂed to the ChÂaguaÂnas MarÂket to make way for a transÂportaÂtion hub.
