THE case in which Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro had charged two men with keeping a brothel (prior to his appointment as the country’s top cop) came up for hearing yesterday, with the court setting a date to rule on the defence’s submission that the prosecution failed to present enough evidence to lead to convictions.
The State yesterday sought to reopen its case against Sheldon Lewis and Vaughn Eversley, but defence attorney Keith Beckles called for the 13-year-old matters to be dismissed.
Senior Magistrate Armina Deonarinesingh was expected to rule on the no case submission made in the past by Beckles, but she noted receipt of the State’s application to reopen its case.
