(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Prison Service (GPS) has released details of the daily prison regime of remanded Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed, stating that official records contradict claims that he was confined to his holding area for 23 hours and 50 minutes on Sunday, 1st November, 2026.
According to the Prison Authority, the detailed release aims to counter claims suggesting that Mohamed was confined to his cell for “23 hours and 50 minutes” on Sunday, an assertion the GPS labelled as completely inconsistent with official institutional logs.
Official prison records confirm that on Saturday, 31st October, Mohamed underwent standard admission processing, during which he was formally briefed on activities related to the admission process, prison regulations, and general expectations. Throughout his first day, Mohamed was granted visits from both family members and his legal counsel, and he was permitted to place a telephone call to a family member lasting approximately 16 minutes.
