A CLAIM for defamation of character that was brought by Richard Young, father of Energy Minister and Prime Minister-designate Stuart Young against the Trinidad Express, has been dismissed by the High Court.
In an oral ruling yesterday afternoon, Justice Jacqueline Wilson struck out the lawsuit and ordered Young (R) to bear the legal costs incurred by the newspaper in defending the claim. Young (R) is currently chairman of the International Financial Centre based at the Port of Spain Waterfront.
The lawsuit stemmed from a newspaper article authored by political journalist Anna Ramdass published in August 2021.
