A fire that raged at the Beetham Landfill since Friday, March 13, has been brought under control as of Sunday, March 15, authorities said, though motorists are being advised to remain cautious of residual smoke along the Beetham Highway.
In a statement, the Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL) said the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service successfully contained the blaze, while SWMCOL continues to manage the site to prevent further incidents.
The company confirmed that landfill operations have resumed regular hours and urged drivers using the main entry and exit routes into Port of Spain to exercise caution due to lingering smoke.
