OfĀfiĀcers of the Guyana PoĀlice Forceās SpeĀcial OrĀganĀised Crime Unit (SOCU) sucĀcessĀfulĀly inĀterĀceptĀed an ilĀleĀgal gold smugĀgling atĀtempt inĀvolvĀing BrazilĀians.
AcĀcordĀing to the SOCU, its ofĀfiĀcers deĀtained two BrazilĀians and seized a large quanĀtiĀty of gold and over GUY$26 milĀlion (One Guyana dolĀlar=US$0.004 cents) in cash.
ArĀrestĀed are AlĀbiĀna FilĀho Alves Vieira, 42, male of BrazilĀian naĀtionĀalĀiĀty, a salesĀman, and ErĀizanĀgela ReĀgia De OlivĀera, 39, a feĀmale clothes venĀdor alĀso from Brazil.
