The reign of Dr Ralph Gonsalves as prime minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines came to an end yesterday in a landmark political transformation. Gonsalves had served as prime minister from March 2001 to November 2025.
Late yesterday evening, the St Vincent Times reported that the New Democratic Party (NDP) led by Dr Godwin Friday had secured nine of the 15 parliamentary seats, claiming victory in the 2025 national election and effectively ending Gonsalves’ extended political tenure.
