ForĀmer prime minĀisĀter StuĀart Young (PNM PoS North MP) was abĀsent from ParĀliaĀment yesĀterĀday for deĀbate on the conĀtroĀverĀsial Prime MinĀisĀterās PenĀsion (AmendĀment) Bill, 2025.
HowĀevĀer, in a stateĀment, Young telegraphed the fact that he would be abĀsent as a form of protest of the move by GovĀernĀment.
In a stateĀment postĀed on soĀcial meĀdia, Young said, āSince I enĀtered polĀiĀtics as a temĀpoĀrary PNM opĀpoĀsiĀtion senĀaĀtor in March 2014, I have wantĀed to make susĀtainĀable, imĀpactĀful and meanĀingĀful conĀtriĀbuĀtions to Trinidad and ToĀbaĀgoās growth and deĀvelĀopĀment. I did not enĀter polĀiĀtics for perĀsonĀal maĀteĀrĀiĀal benĀeĀfit.
