The man who was fatally shot by police last Tuesday during an operation linked to social media videos showing him allegedly openly carrying and discharging a firearm in Union Hall, San Fernando, was reportedly hiding in the ceiling of a house when investigators arrived at the location.
Police said the man, who was suspected of being in possession of an illegal firearm at Cypress Hills, was connected to recent reports of home invasions, larcenies, sexual offences against a minor, firearms offences and shooting incidents in the southern police division.
A police report stated that officers received intelligence that indicated that a wanted suspect was at Apartment 3A, Building 32, in Cypress Ridge, Union Hall, San Fernando. Police said that two officers proceeded to the apartment at approximately 12.15 p.m. and they identified themselves to the occupants of the apartment, and advised them of the exercise was being conducted.
