Minister with responsibility for Works, Robert Nesta Morgan, has instructed the National Works Agency (NWA) to take immediate steps to mitigate flooding in the town of Lucea, Hanover.
This comes after persistent rainfall over the last 24 hours resulted in the Riley River overflowing onto the main road leading into and out of the parish capital.
The NWA indicated that, based on checks by its technical team, heavy deposits of bamboo in front of and beneath the bridge were a major contributor to the flooding.
