POLICE have been given until 4 p.m. today to charge a woman held in connection with the kidnapping of Jankie Satie Karim, or she must be released forthwith.

The stringent deadline was set by High Court Justice Karen Reid yesterday evening, following a recall of a habeas corpus application filed on behalf of the detained suspect.

The judicial intervention began at 9 a.m. yesterday when Justice Reid issued a writ of habeas corpus, deman­ding police justify the suspect’s continued detention by 5 p.m. yesterday.
