The United States Embassy in Port of Spain has advised US citizens in Trinidad and Tobago to expect increased security activity following the declaration of a nationwide State of Emergency.
In an advisory, the embassy said the Government of Trinidad and Tobago declared the State of Emergency on March 2nd, 2026, and it took effect on March 3rd, 2026.
According to the advisory, the measure followed a spike in violent criminal activity, mainly linked to organised criminal gangs.
