Former PDO detainee recounts 100-day ordeal

Holding back tears while describing his ordeal after spending 100 days in State custody, a former detainee held under a Preventive Detention Order (PDO) without charge said he contemplated suicide at one point.

The man, who asked to speak anonymously, stated that thoughts of his common-law wife and five children kept him from ending his life, as he was trying to remain strong for them.

His wife, who also accompanied her husband to Quantum Legal on September 18, spoke anonymously with the Sunday Express as well. The St Helena/Piarco Village couple was interviewed two days after the detainee was released.
