A MAN who was accused of raping a woman 13 years ago, yesterday had the case against him dropped after his DNA sample did not match those collected following the alleged offence.
Although committed to stand trial in 2016, Arnil Flemming had maintained his innocence throughout the matter. It was alleged that he raped a woman in a drain back on Ortoire Road, Biche in September 2012. While awaiting trial, he was facilitated by the State to have deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) testing done.
The results, received last year October, showed that he was excluded as a contributor to the DNA profile. When the matter was called yesterday, State prosecutor Josanne Forrester, indicated that the State would be discontinuing the matter. A notice of discontinuance was filed last week Tuesday in the case in which Flemming was represented by attorney Peter Carter.
