Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar says she is look­ing for­ward to an im­por­tant vis­it to Wash­ing­ton, DC, to­day, where she will hold talks with US Sec­re­tary of State Mar­co Ru­bio.

Speak­ing while on a train en route to the US cap­i­tal yes­ter­day, Per­sad-Bisses­sar said she was be­ing ac­com­pa­nied by Min­is­ters Sean Sobers, Bar­ry Padarath, Sad­dam Ho­sein, and oth­er of­fi­cials in the Trinidad and To­ba­go del­e­ga­tion.

“I think it’s a very im­por­tant in­vi­ta­tion to be in­vit­ed to Wash­ing­ton,” she said. “When we get there, sev­er­al ar­eas of mu­tu­al in­ter­est will be dis­cussed. Chief among those that have to do with na­tion­al se­cu­ri­ty and safe­ty, that’s prob­a­bly one on our dis­cus­sion list.”
