Justice and fairness are being described as the foundation of an amendment to the Penal System Reform Act, which gives judges more flexibility to consider relevant previous convictions.
Minister of Home Affairs and Information Gregory Nicholls underscored these principles while speaking on the Penal System Reform Amendment Bill in the Senate.
He believes the amendment is critical to ensuring that victims and their families get justice.
