A Ch­agua­nas man iden­ti­fied by po­lice as a sus­pect­ed ex­tor­tion­ist was killed dur­ing a “Con­trolled Pay­ment Op­er­a­tion” con­duct­ed by of­fi­cers of the An­ti-Ex­tor­tion Unit yes­ter­day.

Ac­cord­ing to a TTPS me­dia re­lease, of­fi­cers of the unit and the Home In­va­sion Team (HIT) were con­duct­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to a re­port that a Tu­na­puna busi­ness­man was made to pay $1,800 over a three-week pe­ri­od and was be­ing told he need­ed to pay $3,000 month­ly be­gin­ning from yes­ter­day.

While await­ing the sus­pect’s ar­rival, the Tu­na­puna busi­ness­man was called and told to in­crease the amount to $3,500, which was done in prepa­ra­tion for the sting op­er­a­tion.
