ATTORNEYS representing Dr Joel Teelucksingh, a specialist medical officer in internal medicine at the San Fernando General Hospital, are demanding that the South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) drop its investigation into alleged misconduct, arguing that it lacks legal justification and violates his rights.

The controversy arose after Teelucksingh authored a satirical column titled 'The Emperor's New Hospital,' published in the Trinidad Guardian on March 21.

The very next day, Teelucksingh received a notice instructing him to proceed on leave until April 30, pending the outcome of the investigation.
